Dr. Sam Rader is joyfully obsessed with why we are the way we are and what we can do about it.
After fifteen years of practicing psychotherapy, Dr. Sam has developed her own therapeutic approach: Source Code Psychology. She believes that our early childhood experience writes a source code in our unconscious, which then determines how the rest of our story unfolds. If we do not get what we need in our first five years, we adopt coping styles as defense mechanisms to get by. Then we mistake these styles for our true identity.
Dr. Sam helps individuals re-write their code for a healthier, more beautiful life. She is the owner and clinical director at Jade Tree Therapy and Sanctuary for Women in Los Angeles, where she employs and supervises a team of mental health practitioners who practice Source Code therapy.
Dr. Sam is currently authoring a book about the coping styles, the clinical foundation for Source Code Psychology, that we adopted in childhood, which helped us then and hurt us now, and how we can heal. Her process of discovering the styles required a decade of rigor, both in her professional role as clinical psychologist and in her deep inner work of personal transformation. Her hope is for the book to be used as an owner’s manual for the psyche—to bring positive change in the ways we relate with ourselves and others, and in how we parent our children.
Sam believes that with enough support, good boundaries, and real love, we are all capable of becoming who we really are.
